The time has come. You're about a month out from your wedding, and it's time to start making those last minute decisions that you filed away in your "To-do Later" section of your brain. Program designs, creating a weekend timeline, and working with your photographer to plan out those picture-perfect shots. One of the major questions you probably got from your photographer was, "Are you wanting to do a first look?" You may have thought that he or she was referring to a first-look with your dad, mother, escort, etc. However, it is becoming more and more popular to do first looks with your significant other.
While we always LOVE seeing those traditional first looks, here are our top 3 reasons why we think a first-look with your spouse is a solid option:
- You get to spend a little bit of quality time alone. We all know that wedding days are insanely busy and non-stop. This is you and your spouse's chance to be a little removed from the hustle and bustle of all things "wedding" and just be together. Some people are overwhelmed by crowds and would prefer that intimate moment to be just between the two of them (and the photographer). This would be a good option if that is the case for you to get those nervous jitters out of the way!
- You get to spend more time celebrating at your reception. After all is said and done, the reception is your chance to let loose and just hang out with your friends and family. The last thing you want to be doing right before the reception is taking 3 hours worth of pictures. For one, you will be so antsy to get the party started. Secondly, your guests will be so excited and ready to see the two of you together! Save everyone (including yourselves) the drama of waiting.
- You get to reminisce on moments like these for the rest of your lives!
