Being as our Editor is part Native American [proud to be 1/16 Tuscarora] we pondered ...'What if the settlers and the Native tribes had interacted differently? What if the tribes had stayed in their lands and were fully present and integrated into today's 'American' culture with all their style and history intact? And what if we all lived with the beauty and gravity and meaning of Native American artwork woven into our everyday aesthetic and fashion?

With full respect and honor to all tribes we present our exclusive styled shoot "Native American Beauty". Three generations of beautiful Native women [lead model and matriarch Roseanne Apodaca is half Apache and has been a professional model her whole life], her daughter Nicole is 1/4 the Apache and her charming granddaughter Antoinette is 1/8 Apache. Our beautiful wolf models are 100% pure blood Native American.  We asked one of our favorite photography team, Suzanne and Mike Ofeldt of SheWanders, to capture this shoot's richness and soul as only they could. The unique props and decor were sourced by Designer Lauren Sharon and our artists custom made the chandelier and flag, which has the words of prayer "The Circle of Life" by Black Elk, Oglala Sioux Holy Man woven through the tapestry in honor of all tribes and people who live 'The Way'.

"Everything the Power of the World does is done in a circle. The sky is round, and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball and so are all the stars. The wind, in its greatest power, whirls. Birds make their nests in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours. The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the same, and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing and always come back where they were. The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves." ~Black Elk, Oglala Sioux
