The Abbey
A gorgeous turn of the century classic revival building, The Abbey is a romantic, historical building that adds richness, history and depth to any wedding event.
In 1910, on the fringe of Balboa Park, master architect Norman Foote Marsh built the Park Place Methodist Episcopal Church. Inspired by the beauty and architecture of the early 1900's, The Abbey is the only classic revival structure still in existence in San Diego today.
A unique, upscale, indoor special events facility, The Abbey has retained its beauty and power, with her 50 foot cathedral ceilings, with magnificent stained glass domes and windows, a gilded gold detailed ceiling, columns, curved balconies of rich dark woods and a Renaissance atmosphere.
The Abbey has been the home to numerous special events over the last century, and has been selected by designer Richard Tyler and Nordstroms and many others for their fashion events.
We chose The Abbey as one of San Diego's TOP 25 wedding sites for it's incredibly dramatic exterior, the rich woods of the interior, the stained glass windows that will take your breath away and because The Abbey's staff really knows how to assist you in creating a special event that has power. Abril Le Gerrette Greathouse is the on site event manager. Not only does Abril know the Abbey professionally, she was married there!
