Oh Pacific Beach! You have your own groove don't you and we love you!! The Catamaran Resort in 'PB' has its own groove too - a little beachy, a little tropical, a dose of hip, and a lot of Southern California style makes for a great combo - and so does this cocktail reception arrangement by Witty Rentals photographed by the talented Amy Lynn of By Amy Lynn Photography along the bay at The Catamaran Resort - we think this whole scene is one that you will love!
Caitlin & Dan have their priorities straight! When asked what their wedding style was, they responded they just wanted to have a fun and relaxed day. And by the end of the night, they got exactly the wedding they had hoped for. Caitlin & Dan got married at Kona Kai Resort in San Diego right on the harbor sand. The day was perfect and warm and they were surrounded by only 25 of their closest family and friends. We love the small wedding! To keep everyone laughing and having a ball plenty of games were on hand like corn hole, ring toss, Chinese checkers and an extra large Jenga! When it came time for their dinner, every guest sat at the same table [we are constantly touting the benefits of family style dining at weddings! love!!] to break bread and celebrate the happy couple. The whole day: the view, the beach, the bay, the games, and the set up was perfect! To top the night off, Caitlin & Dan shared their first dance with their toes in the sand and roasted marshmallows with their closest loved ones. What a great day for this beautiful couple!
Avery & Cory are both so fun spirited and silly and we absolutely love their destination wedding in San Diego. Both Los Angeles transplants, Avery & Cory were all about having a celebration of their love on the beach in San Diego. Kona Kai's harbor beach was the perfect place for this adorable couple to celebrate. Equipped with lots of amazing on trend details, and a bright and happy, pale aqua blue and yellow palette, Avery & Cory's wedding day was perfect in every way, from the brides glitzy bouquet to strutting her stuff in her bridal Jimmy Choo's. They described their wedding style and traditional but glamorous. The most important thing was that they got to remember every detail and enjoy their day. Surrounded by their closest friends & family, this fun loving couple celebrated love, sunshine, and good times at their San Diego destination wedding!

Michelle & Tommaso wanted one thing for their wedding...simplicity! Michelle & Tommaso, who live in Northern California, decided to travel South with their family and closest friends for an intimate elopement in San Diego. Photographer Paul Douda started their photo session at Chicano Park in the Barrio Logan district of San Diego. Chicano Park is recognized for its stunning street art and lively community. Tommaso was inspired by the symmetry of Wes Anderson films and wanted to see the same style in his wedding photos, while Michelle wanted to see something uniquely theirs. Therefore, Paul intentionally disrupted the perfect symmetry aesthetic and made beautiful art that was true to the bride and groom.
After the first look and couples portraits, they headed to San Diego's bay front Courthouse for their ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family members, and finished the night at Rovino's Italian Cuisine in San Diego with two families v as one for the first time. It couldn't have been a better way to end such a special day in our beautiful, warm hearted, multi cultural, hometown... San Diego!
What do you get when you take a really creative team of wedding vendors and put them together with a classic tale of love and pirates? You get an amazing and fun Pirates of the Caribbean wedding styled shoot! It's a pirate's life for us....
Today's wedding couple wants to have fun and get creative we think this Disney inspired shoot is just the ticket to inspire you to do you! We are obsessed with the faux ship sail as backdrop! That's just great and imaginative staging folks! Scroll down for complete credits. Bravo!!
Photographer Raelyn Elizabeth says "My team and I are big fans of all things Disney/fairytale AND all things wedding! We are a group of wedding vendors who love to create inspiration for off-beat, Disney-loving brides and grooms. When we first heard there would be another Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming out this year, we knew we HAD to create a wedding shoot inspired by all things Pirates. We all have been living and breathing everything pirate and my spotify playlist has been playing pirate music on loop for the last month or so.
Deborah, our incredible clothing designer, offered our bride a modern yet beautiful pirate inspired on a non traditional, black and off white wedding gown.
We held the faux wedding ceremony on the iconic island of Coronado beach, in Southern California. Craft Menagerie, our custom crafter, created our gorgeous sail that was used for a non traditional ceremony arch. Baldwin Bridal and Events planned, designed and styled our stunning sweetheart table, cocktail bar, and reception decor to create a dark and edgy pirate ambiance.
The faux reception was taken place at The Tipsy Crow's upstairs lounge in San Diego, California. Baldwin Bridal and Events selected this venue because it reminds her of Disney's original dark inspired 'bachelor's pad', Club 33. With red velvet curtains, black leather chairs, old fireplaces and many gold fixtures, it was the perfect blend of everything pirate and Disney. Sylver Weddings and Events put the details together for the cake table and stationary display. The cake was created by Charly’s Cakes, and the stationery and seating chart were created by Boxed Wedding Invitations.
We have noticed with all of the millennial brides and grooms who grew up watching Disney fairytale wedding animations now seeing the live action remakes, we are seeing a new trend of off- beat brides and grooms who dream of creating their own fairytale romance in their weddings."

Sarah & Kolton tied the knot on an early Spring afternoon in the quaint mountain town of Julian, California just east of San Diego. William Heise County Park made for a lovely setting their outdoor wedding ceremony and afterwards the couple was transported by horse-drawn carriage to their brewery wedding reception at Nickel Brewery. The pastel colors used throughout this wedding really gave everything a soft, sweet, country feeling topped off by a cupcake tower and adorable customized heart-shaped cake wire cake topper and yummy tacos at the reception by Tacos Deliciosos! Sarah & Kolton had an absolutely amazing big day, filled with laughter & dancing with family and friends. And the icing on the cake was the bride's choice to start her new life in pink-laced Converse All Stars - the perfect way to start to their journey together!

Tim Otto [one of the nicest people you will ever meet!] is the kind of guy who at the end of the year can't wait to sit back and review all the weddings and engagements he photographed to reminisce about all the love, fun and memories he made with his couples. Here are Tim Otto's favorite wedding photos from 2016: they clearly show the heart and soul he puts into the weddings he photographs.
When you look at his work you can see that Tim likes to blend a variety of styles when he photographs people in love and weddings: Tim works with everything from a photo-journalistic editorial approach, to a contemporary fashion edge, to classic romantic style. Says Tim "I always enjoy photographing people and capturing their individual spirits; I think this is what drew me to weddings. I love weddings! I love telling the story of the entire day by capturing the many personalities and emotions on display as the events unfold. I want to capture not only what people look like, but show what they feel like. I want to give the bride and groom real, dynamic and beautiful photographs that they will treasure for a lifetime! I want to create an amazing and fun experience by making my couples feel comfortable in front of the camera without interfering with the flow of the day. A wedding is a celebration of love with family and friends; truly an amazing event. I am honored and privileged be part of your day." Yes Tim, we can tell! Please enjoy Tim Otto's favorite photos from 2016!
And we heard them exclaim as they danced out of sight, Merry Christmas to all and to all a great wedding night!! Wishing you and your family a lovely holiday season with this sweet white [and red!] Christmas themed wedding at Mt. Woodson Amy Strong Castle - yes San Diego has a rustic beautiful castle that hosts gorgeous weddings!

We like to call it 'Glam Mexican' cuisine - we've had delicious classic Mexican dishes elevated to food art at this latest Cohn Group / Chef Deborah Scott success - but Coasterra Restaurant in San Diego offers many Latin American inspired dishes and drinks to please every palette. We think you'll love this beautiful restaurant that has the best view in San Diego hands-down! And they've got breathtaking event space for up to 500 that is both unique and fun.
Stop by Coasterra for a sunset drink and appetizers, lunch or dinner or schedule a tasting with their catering department with their caring and expert wedding team headed by Tracey Amernick.
All aboard for the sweetest reception idea on wheels! Adam and Theresa are not your ordinary couple! They knew they wanted their wedding to be something different - something that offered a very fun and unique experience for their guests. So the groom, being the train lover that he is, decided he would share his love for trains with everyone. After their wedding ceremony in the beautiful LA Cathedral, everyone hopped on a train at famous Union Station and headed along the Pacific shoreline to beautiful San Diego [of course!] with champagne in hand. After a little leg break in San Diego everyone stepped back up onto the train, and enjoyed a fabulous dinner with a one-of-a-kind view none would ever forget!

A wedding date is the day you and your spouse make your very own and it should symbolize a special day shared between you and your loved ones. Here’s how to pick your perfect date.
Selecting your wedding date can be a bit of a challenge. You need everything to be just right for you, your family, relatives and guests. You want to be sure that the weather is perfect [check weather information] if you are going to be outside, that your day will be a convenient one for anyone traveling and you will, no doubt, have personal reasons for selecting a date- (like choosing your parents’ anniversary or the date you and your true love met years ago).
To be sure that you do not pick a date that is extra challenging for foreign guests or guests from other religions or cultures - use this really neat non-profit website called “Earth Calendar" that we found. Earth Calendar lists all holidays by date, country and religion -it even lists lunar phases in case you want to light the evening sky with a full moon, all to help you plan the perfect wedding date.
And don't forget to send out save the date cards!
Weddings, in some ways, will never change. The beauty, the emotions, the joy and spirit of love and new beginnings, all combining to create an incredible, memorable event for you and for your guests. Wow!
Wedding planning on the other hand, has changed a lot! Weddings are no longer a matter of inviting your guests from across town to drive over to the church or temple and convene at a nearby club or home for a reception. Southern California weddings in particular involve many more activities, agendas and travel arrangements and don’t forget to add in the stress of unique relationship dynamics involving divorced or step parents and the myriad of other issues among families and friends that we must contend with in our time.
Your wedding is most likely going to be the only time in your life that you will gather your entire world together for a celebration of life. This can be very top heavy, pressure filled, and possibly chaotic, however it also offers you the opportunity for greatness. A haphazardly planned wedding; an event without focus, feels stressful and sloppy. It never takes off into a higher realm because it too disjointed.
We don’t believe in Bridezillas. But we do know just how colossal an undertaking producing a wedding usually is and that being unprepared and having unrealistic expectations is a recipe for a meltdown. So the more you know and the more you get the right the help the better experience you will have at your own wedding!
Your decisions on everything from location, flowers, music, tablecloths, and dress need to work together to create a cohesive feeling. In other words; a wedding is more than the sum of its parts. By the way the ability to make decisions together is one of the key elements to a healthy, successful relationship so don't shy away from working together.
And that is where effective planning comes in. The first step in planning a powerful and cohesive wedding event is getting focused on what you want; this can be challenging because there are so many wonderful things to choose from!

A Coordinator is truly the one event resource that you should book right from the start as they can assist you with so many details and save you countless hours and money. Let's face it even Brain Surgeons won't do a DIY procedure and unless you are a professional planner for a living [then you REALLY shouldn't plan your own event!] you just won't know all the tips and tricks and work and elements to handle. And shouldn't your job be to show up and enjoy one of the most powerful and profound days of your life with all of your focus on the ones you love and the magic of the day?
Some people choose a date with meaning and they’re off and running, first others wait to find out the available dates at their venue of choice, either way, after you have a set date you then begin interviewing and booking the perfect professionals who will listen to your needs and ideas and manifest them. Steven and James met while stationed together in Japan while in the Navy, so it came as no surprise that their wedding was 'photobombed' by planes flying by during and after their ceremony, serendipitously celebrating their personal connection with the Navy, planes, and flying. With so much love and joy evident in this lovely, intimate wedding - held at a private residence then moved to Juniper and Ivy to celebrate - we think you will enjoy this featured wedding as much as we did which features happy people, a beautiful San Diego day and our favorite wedding guests....adorable dogs in bow ties!!
