One of our favorite Wedding photographer's favorite photographs from 2016

Tim Otto is one of our favorite San Diego wedding photographers and it is easy to see why!

    Tim Otto Wedding 1.jpg

Tim Otto [one of the nicest people you will ever meet!] is the kind of guy who at the end of the year can't wait to sit back and review all the weddings and engagements he photographed to reminisce about all the love, fun and memories he made with his couples. Here are Tim Otto's favorite wedding photos from 2016: they clearly show the heart and soul he puts into the weddings he photographs.

When you look at his work you can see that Tim likes to blend a variety of styles when he photographs people in love and weddings:  Tim works with everything from a photo-journalistic editorial approach, to a contemporary fashion edge, to classic romantic style.  Says Tim "I always enjoy photographing people and capturing their individual spirits; I think this is what drew me to weddings. I love weddings! I love telling the story of the entire day by capturing the many personalities and emotions on display as the events unfold.  I want to capture not only what people look like, but show what they feel like.  I want to give the bride and groom real, dynamic and beautiful photographs that they will treasure for a lifetime! I want to create an amazing and fun experience by making my couples feel comfortable in front of the camera without interfering with the flow of the day. A wedding is a celebration of love with family and friends; truly an amazing event.  I am honored and privileged be part of your day."  Yes Tim, we can tell! Please enjoy Tim Otto's favorite photos from 2016!

Beautiful, contemporary white Military wedding wows at MoCA La Jolla

There's nothing quite like a modern white wedding and what better place to have one than overlooking the ocean at the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla ?

Meredith and Allen first met in flight school when they were becoming military pilots. Allen was swimming a mile for his survival training and Meredith was counting laps for him. Meredith’s friend Liz totally embarrassed her by telling her friends in Allen’s class that Meredith though he was cute. Luckily, Allen thought Meredith was pretty cute as well and the rest is history.... Allen proposed to Meredith on the beach in Del Mar after dining at the beautiful Jake’s restaurant for dinner. They watched the sunset and when the crowds started to disperse, he thought the time was right and got down on one knee and proposed. Their beautiful white wedding was perfect. They exchanged vows at the All Hallows Catholic Church on top of Soledad mountain which overlooks La Jolla. Guests then met up at the stunning Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla for a unique wedding experience surrounded by contemporary art exhibitions and the beautiful styling of Madmade Designs, with delicious food from local favorite Giuseppe’s Catering.

7 ways a Professional Wedding and Event Planner makes your wedding everything you want and need it to be

Wedding coordinators, event planners and event designers are the backbone of successfully implemented weddings. Here's 7 great reasons for you to work with a real pro planner.!

    1. A good wedding planner is the conductor to the orchestra of your wedding vendors. Yes your wedding vendors know what they're doing individually, but having a real professional event planner coordinating all these different professionals into creating a symphony just for you can make your event a harmonious work of art instead of a discordant mess. And the best wedding vendors truly appreciate working weddings when there is a capable planner at the helm.

    2. Someone who knows what they're doing and knows what can go wrong and how to make things go right overseeing and running your wedding makes all the difference in the world to your event and your family's and guests enjoyment of it. Have you planned numerous weddings yourself? Probably not. Reading a bunch of information on websites can never prepare you for the experience of running one of the most top-heavy and emotional experiences of your life which, oh yeah, involves all of your family and friends and - no pressure here - a good chunk of money and is also supposed to be one of the best days of your life. Ahhhhhh!

    3. Ask yourself: 'do you want to enjoy your wedding or handle it?' Good. That's what we thought. Now go hire a planner and step aside and actually experience your wedding as the single most important guest there.

    4. A wedding planner becomes your voice when you can't speak for yourself because you're busy getting married. Handling an upset wedding guest or controlling family member, can ruin your wedding experience. But if your event planner is in on the potential pitfalls and politics of your family he or she can handle anything that comes down the road leaving you free to feel the love and celebrate.

    5. A wedding planner is your budgetary advocate. In other words inexperienced planner who often brings a lot of business to a venue or a vendor and who helps avoid expensive mistakes can save you a lot of money.

    6. A great wedding planner becomes your therapist and confidant. Planning a wedding is stressful. Being able to vent and complain, cry or get it out with someone who is not in your inner circle of family or friends (i.e. someone who won't be hurt or hold what you say over your head for the rest of your life) really helps you clear out some mental junk. A great planner helps you release then straighten your crown and move on.

    7. And sometimes a planner becomes a best friend. Think about someone who- for a living -helps people celebrate one of the most powerful intimate and impactful days of their life. Frankly wedding planners are pretty cool people so allowing this person into your celebration is allowing them into the best part of your life. Befriending your event planner happens an Who doesn't want a friend who's loving and talented and cares about other people's most important days?

Do yourself [and everyone you love] a huge favor: hire a professional event planner and enjoy your own wedding!

The exciting and thoughtful designs of designer Gemy Maalouf

Are you looking for something genuinely unique for your big walk down the aisle? Well look no further than the exciting design from brilliant Lebanese designer, Gemy Maalof.

    image.jpg

Gemy Maalouf was born and raised in Lebanon, where she grew up surrounded by the colorful materials at her father’s fabric factory. Little did she know at such a young age that she was about to embark on a life-long journey into the world of fashion, despite her parents’ wish that she study law. Further motivating her choice of career was her captivation with the designer gowns she saw on models gracing catwalks and on celebrities walking the red carpet during her adolescence. As a result, she decided that she would bring a novel approach to the industry by making haute couture more accessible to women.

Building on her desire to create simple yet intricate formal wear for sexy, modern, young and active woman with attitude, Gemy quickly developed an exceptional eye for fashion. Cultivating her innate artistic talent, she first began designing gowns for friends and neighbors at just 17 years old and gradually increased her acumen for design, working in small workshops to bring her beautiful creations to life.

    image.jpg

By 1996, Gemy was ready to open her first atelier in Beirut, making her dream of becoming a globally recognized designer a reality. From the onset of her career, she stayed true to her initial vision and launched her first line of clothing under her name, embodying all the high-end qualities and luxury of the haute couture. The release of the collection met with much acclaim and only four years after starting her label, she reached the fashion world’s center stage when she became one of the first Lebanese designers to show at the Salon du “Prêt a Porter” in Paris.

    image.jpg

Not one to remain satisfied with the status quo, Gemy soon sought other avenues through which she could expand her innovative designs and took an ambitious step by bringing her unique flair to the fashion-conscious bride in 2004 with the GEMY MAALOUF Bridal line. In 2006, she once again embraced progress and change with her GEMY “Le Prêt” line, which provides a complete range of formal attire, from tops and skirts to short dresses. Finally in 2007, feeling the increasing demand for her designs from a niche of clientele with lower budgets, Gemy launched her 2nd line Beside Couture by GEMY providing the style at more affordable prices.
