Grace Kelly Inspired High Tea at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe Wedding Styled Shoot

Long before there was Meghan, Kate and even the lovely and beloved Diana, there was Princess Grace. Formerly Grace Kelly; the elegant, already regal and oh-so “to the Manor born” movie star who graced the silver screen with her divinely cultured elegance. Then, like a real-life fairytale, she and Prince Rainier of Monaco were so smitten with one another that she left Hollywood behind for true love and to become Her Royal Highness The Princess of Monaco. This exclusive styled shoot at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, photographed masterfully by nationally renowned portrait and visual artist Paul Barnett and his talented team of shooters, is an ode to this inspiring beauty queen. Here we find her at high tea on her beautiful lawn, in stunning bridal fashions by Gracy Accad and Justin Alexander, with just the right touches of mauve and rose style, her perfectly coiffed dog by her side; the true queen of grace and refinement. And we wish heartfelt congratulations to both Princess Grace’s granddaughter Charlotte and her grandson Louis both of whom just married their true love in Monaco!

A Perfect Wedding Day on the Lake - a Kennedy-esque Styled Shoot Celebrates Classically Preppy Style

This celebration of Summer styled shoot designed and created exclusively for SanDiegoWedding.com, is a perfect Summer-on-the-lake day of style, fashion and wedding inspiration! Complete with gorgeous blue lake (a la the amazing - best-kept-secret-in-San Diego- Lakehouse Hotel & Resort in San Marcos), boats, green lawns, and even gorgeous secret-spot romantic cabanas accessible only by boat! With a classic blue, green and white lakeside palette, crisp, clean tailored satin gowns for the bride, and beautiful, blue and grey suits for the Kennedy lookalike groom, replete with charming bow ties and handkerchiefs. Naturally no celebration of preppy style would be complete without the unofficial WASP dog: Golden Retrievers! We love this celebration of what we call classic “Kennedy style”; inspired by JFK and Jackie’s fresh and clean look and the Kennedy clan’s Hyannis Port Summers on the water from long ago. This shoot highlights the good things in life; living surrounded by family and love, choosing a life of good works and public service, dogs, and spending plenty of time in the beautiful outdoors. We hope it inspires you to get outside and celebrate the good life, celebrated in the San Diego sun. Full credits of this talented collaboration of wedding artists below.

What happens when you get a bunch of creative and fun loving wedding vendors together for a meet up? Sometimes they do more than talk weddings…they create mock ones like this intimate champagne and blush styled shoot at JNV Creations’ showroom! This fun loving bunch created a styled shoot and wedding vendor party, so that the guests - who usually are working a wedding- could feel like they were partying at one, and everyone involved [models included] are wedding vendors! Modern James Bond Meets His True Love in our Exclusive Wedding Styled Shoot

We love gathering together a group of super talented wedding artists and making something creative and fun and fashionable! First we start with a theme: "Modern James Bond Meets His True Love" think 1960's Sean Connery Bond in an Apple Store - except even better we got to play all day at Tower 23 one of the hippest, most beautifully designed wedding ceremony and reception venues (and hotels) in San Diego! The bridal fashions of Viktor & Rolf and Justin Alexander and the latest men's fashions from Gentlemen's Tux for our modern day Bond, enhanced with a vintage black Jaguar and Pacific Beach's fun and youthful backdrop were the perfect way to celebrate this space.  Enjoy. Please see full credits and gratitude at end of post.

A big thank you to Tower 23 for inviting us in for the day to see and portray your incredibly special space. Designed by the uber talented architect Graham Downes, who we knew personally and admired tremendously, Tower 23 is alive with vibrant details and light and space like no other venue. The hotel's design is super clean and modern with playful 1960's 'mod vibe' elements infused into fun little areas that surprise and delight at the same time. It's welcoming, with a smooth, defined style that soothes and refreshes like a tall, cool glass of ice water on a hot day, It's so enveloping that we were surprised every time we looked up to see the unobstructed view of the white sand beach, the pier and the incredible sunsets of PB. There's a reason this location is so respected and sought after as a wedding venue!

This is what a perfectly tailored suit looks like on a man, by John Jaques at Gentlemen's Tux.

While art directing a shot in this shoot we were overwhelmed by the feeling that Graham Downes had designed into the space and the lightbulb went on. We got it. Architecture, like other forms of art, is designed to induce a feeling - and this space makes you feel more alive and alight and at peace, it was almost meditative in it's simplicity, yet playful, bold and youthful at the same time.

Spectacular hair by Lia Runs with Scissors of Kuthaus Glendora and makeup by Alta DeKoven all topped off with just the right amazing vintage jewelry by Carolyn of Vintage Jewelry Lounge!

And last but not least the man with the eye Justin Hulse of Hulse Photography - thank you for capturing our 'vintage mod' vision so flawlessly.

Rich Burgundy Toned Wedding Styled Shoot Celebrates with a Hint of Medieval Magic

This Wedding Styled Shoot celebrates bold style and outdoor wedding glamour with a hint of Medieval charm and the MOST stunning florals! If this ultra rich and regal burgundy-toned Wedding Styled Shoot doesn't inspire you to add a little medieval flair to your wedding day we don't know what will! And oh my goodness that circular floral swing has us in deep crush mode!

For gifted floral designers and stylists inspiration can come at any place and at any time and from any era! This modern take on royal medieval style for a wedding magically appeared while visiting the Milagro Winery Cave. The beautiful winery cave’s interior is covered with large stone pieces and immediately transports one to an era of iron and clay, candles, and over the top lush weddings with long and hearty celebrations.
The talented wedding photographer Sergey from Red Trolley Studio captured the imagined newlyweds as if in a time machine. The majestic tree at Milagro Winery was decorated with a romantic vintage floral swing with rich Darcey garden roses and eucalyptus, harkening a never ending love story. The Bridal bouquets [all fit for a queen!] embodied true magic with a variety of textures and color tones: burgundy garden roses, Privet and Hypericum berries with a blush of anemones and seeded eucalyptus. The florals in this shoot are fab-u-lous and we see a lot of wedding florals! These living works of art were created and styled by the floral designer artist Tatyana Mironova Jamora of Unforgettable Florals. To create a medieval royal experience, Gold and Burgundy textured linens were provided by Patricia Patty’s Linen Rentals. We loved the heavy iron key chains and candelabras, it just takes you back in time. The delicious dessert Cream Puff tower [Croquembouche anyone?] and cupcake feast were designed and provided by Joanna Page of The London Bakery. The bridal beauty makeup artist Tanya Tello and wedding hairstylist Audrey Borunda created a soft and delicate look for the beautiful bride and grooming for the dashing groom.
This talented team was thrilled to showcase this theme inspired ceremony at Milagro Winery - the perfect romantic setting.

Happy Lunar New Year!! Celebrate the Year of the Dog with this Gorgeous Wedding Styled Shoot by Formosa Events

We promised you another amazing Lunar New Year Wedding Styled Shoot this time by the creative team at Formosa Events and here it is! This bold pink delight of wedding style with traditional lion dancers, asian themed wedding cake, breathtaking styling and fashion is just the thing to ring in a very Happy Year of the Dog!!

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

SDW - As a wedding planner, you participate in style shoots on various themes.  So why one about the Lunar New Year?

Wendy - Chinese New Year is always celebrated with friends and family at home, and eating together is always part of the 15 day celebrations.  Although food is a very important element at these get-togethers, often times the visual and aesthetic experience for our guests may be overlooked.  For this very reason, our team wanted to showcase two very distinct looks that anyone can do at home.  These decorative ideas are really simple to execute, but they really do enhance the dining table tremendously.

What was designed can be featured at various other events such as a wedding, birthday party, anniversary dinner, and more.  It isn't necessarily just for Lunar New Year dinners.  This is what makes our table designs fabulous - they are transferrable for other occasions.

SDW - What was the inspiration for this style shoot?

Wendy - Thinking about all those Lunar New Year family dinners over the years, personally, I was ultimately inspired by two specific things.  First, Pantone's colour of year for 2017; greenery.  This was the reason green was selected in the colour palette.  Secondly, the question was - would it be possible to have a Chinese inspired shoot without featuring traditional red?  I believe our team was successful in demonstrating a modern interpretation of Asian decor and styling when you look at the video and pictures.

The other design feature that our team encapsulated was the Yin and Yang concept.  One table featured a bold approach with the use of Bonsai trees.  It translated into a more sophisticated masculine feel.  The second table donated a more feminine touch with an abundance of flowers in shades of soft pinks and purples.

SDW - What is the one key piece of advice that you can offer to couples looking to design their own event?

Wendy - My continuous inspiration is derived from my clients' cultural backgrounds, their individual tastes and impeccable styles. Hence the company name "Asian Fusion Weddings".  However, there are also clients that want a very visually detailed rich celebration where the cultural aspects are not the main focus.  Hence "Formosa Events".  'Formosus' in Latin means beautifully formed.  Therefore, when couples consult with this company, they desire more visual eye candy at their events.

In either case, it brings me great joy to be able to infuse their wishes into one creatively detailed and cohesive design; whether it be a gathering at home, an intimate affair and/or an extravagant wedding.  The key for designing any celebrations is to maintain the colour scheme, use a variety of textures and remember what the purpose of the event is all about.

SDW - Thank you very much for sharing your team's editorial shoot with us.

Wendy - Thank you for sharing our images and video.  Gung Hay Fat Choy!  I wish everyone a healthy, wealthy and prosperous new year.

Ready to Celebrate the Lunar New Year? This Gorgeous Asian Wedding Shoot Will Get You Excited for the Year of the Dog!

Gung Hay Fat Choy! We love Lunar New Year and are getting excited for the Year of the Dog!

The Lunar [or Asian] New year is tomorrow February 16! So we will let this gorgeous Styled Shoot by Asian Fusion Weddings speak for itself [or bark for itself] but one thing we love is finding out that in China, it's still popular to name dogs Wàng Cái (旺财), meaning “prosperous wealth” and comes from dogs’ barking sounds (旺旺—wàng wàng). Enjoy! Watch for another spectacular styled shoot celebrating Lunar New Year and Year of the Dog tomorrow on the day of this colorful and ancient celebration...!
