Super Fun Beach Wedding Shows that with True Love Baby You're a Firework!

Have you ever had two friends that in the back of your head you just *know* would be such a good match? Well a few of Brittany and Matt’s friends already knew this. They would keep saying “you really need to meet Matt”, and Brittany got so annoyed with this phrase after awhile, that she really started wondering, “ok, who is this character?”. Well one day, fate would have to step in to get these two to meet. Stagecoach happened. Brittany and Matt were finally to meet. And when they did their were instant sparks. He kept chasing her for the rest of the weekend, and there after. They became inseparable, and seven years later, Matt knew it was time to ask an important question. Brittany retells it from her side below...

“My little sister Ashley shared with us in September, that she would be having her college graduation in December that year! She shared with us how important it was to her that we make it. About a week before our trip I got a phone call from my father with tips on what to pack. And he shared with us that the day after my sister’s graduation day he had a “family fun day surprise” planned for all of us and we were to dress warm but nice. And he kept emphasizing we all pack “nice sweaters”. I’ve always considered myself to be a pretty intuitive person, but when I tried to guess family pictures was on the list of family fun, I never thought I would actually be right! On the morning of “Family Fun Day” and I woke up to find I had slept in and wasn’t going to have time to wash my hair before we left for our day! Panicking of course I jokingly said to my dad “I swear if we take family pictures today with my hair this dirty you’re dead!” I was calmed down and assured that wasn’t what we were doing and we rushed off to our first destination. Now anyone that knows me knows my favorite movie of ALL TIME is of course “The Notebook”. Funny enough, the day before I mentioned to my family it had always been a dream of my mine to hunt down the plantation they filmed part of the movie at right there in Charleston. Well as soon as we pulled in to our first destination and I saw the line of giant beautiful Oak Trees I almost burst out into tears !!! My dream of seeing the Boone Hall Plantation where they filmed many scenes from the movie was RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES! We spent a beautiful day touring the property. And being the Naggy Nancy I am I even made a spiteful comment about how perfect it would be if Matt had decided to propose to me at the place my favorite love story was filmed in front of my whole family. Haha real smooth Brittany!...."

"We finished up our last tour and all sat down together to have a snack which ended quickly due to my dad realizing we were almost late to the next part of the surprise! Next part?! I would have been happy ending with that! We all scramble to the car and I spent the next 20 minutes matter of factually trying to guess that we were on our way to go take family pictures! Again being told I had no idea what I was talking about I decided to give up and enjoy the ride. Finally my dad broke the silence and said “Ok Brittany, here’s a hint. If you need to take the next 10 minutes to spruce yourself up ,you might want to go ahead and do that! You were right, we’re taking family photos.” I KNEW IT !! Panicking I started messing with my now dirty AND windblown hair from being outside all day, globing on the makeup, and getting ready for these pictures. We arrive at a beautiful neighborhood in Charleston that was surrounded by dream like scenery. We pulled into a woody area off the main road and jumped out of the car to meet our photographer! The sun was setting and it was getting chilly so we immediately followed her plan of family photos, daddy daughter, then couples.

We began several different poses together but after being instructed to place my hand on his chest I soon realized Matt’s heart was POUNDING!!!! I looked at him concerned and asked if he was ok because his heart was beating out of his chest!! He played it off like he didn’t know what I was talking about. So I just thought it had to do with the fact that we were kind of on the spot in front of everyone and we’d never taken pictures like this before! In our next pose she asked that Matt turn towards me and place his hands under my chin. We faced each other and he looked at me like I’ve never seen him look at me before and said, “Brittany you are so beautiful.” He seriously said that looking through my soul!! I immediately was taken back and wanted to cry! And for some reason my initial reaction was to pull away as I was sure my face was beat red! And that is the moment he pulled me back and I realized this was it! The moment I’ve been dreaming out since our first dance at stagecoach so many years before. I was so caught off guard I BURST into tears immediately and was overwhelmed with every emotion that could run through my heart and head at once!! The best part of his whole proposal was turning to my family to find out they were in on it the whole time! Here I was thinking I was there to surprise my sister on her big graduation weekend, yet my family had been planning all of this right under my nose! Matt had asked my dad for my hand prior to this weekend on Thanksgiving and they had been planning how to make this all come together long before I came up with surprising Ashley for her graduation! JOKES ON ME! This day was a fairy tale.”

To continue that fairy tale, Brittany and Matt chose the beautiful Serendipity Garden Weddings venue to tie the knot, and they did so on the 4th of July! Now they get to celebrate their anniversary every year with a day off and end it with fireworks across the sky.

Del Mar Wedding Celebrates True Love on the Beach and Those Who Serve in Style

Games, the beach, the ocean, friends, family and fun and our fave the military saber arch (sword salute)! This charming wedding on the beach celebrates true love and those who serve, in style!

Danny is in the Marine Corps and due to, deployments and training it took this gorgeous couple (who are already legally married) tow years to finally have time to have their dream wedding! The wedding theme was beachy natural earthy colors -gray, champagne/ivory, dusty mint, sage, blush and the bride Jacque even did her own flowers! Their romantic and intimate ceremony was on the beach in the sand at the Del Mar Beach Resort in Camp Pendleton. After, the guests enjoyed beach games such as Jenga, Cornhole, Ringtoss at the Cocktail hour. Their lively reception was in a tent on the beach directly behind the ceremony site, where there was lots of dancing, fun party props/hats and S'mores! The fun Bride and Groom had special military themed cookies and donuts instead of a cake!

San Diego Featured Wedding: Nate + Natalie's All American Beachside Wedding Day

Men in Uniform. American flags, adorable pups, and..... donuts! It can't get much better than that combination! We love our Marines, (and all servicemen and women, of course) so when we saw Nate and Natalie's wedding, with its traditional crossed saber arch recessional, we jumped on sharing it with you. This north county beachside wedding was truly something red, white and blue, however, it wasn't just the uniforms, or decor and or beachside backdrop that we loved; the patriotic flair throughout was truly inspiring. So enjoy this sweet wedding with gratitude for our armed forces stationed around the world and in here in sunny San Diego.

Saber Arch Etiquette at Weddings:
First and foremost the saber arch is a privilege accorded to service members only.

Officers and enlisted personnel in the bridal party wear formal dress uniforms in accordance with seasonal regulations of the services. White gloves are required for all saber or sword bearers, who are normally officers or NCOs. Military guests usually have the option to attend the wedding in uniform or appropriate civilian attire, but none may carry a saber or sword unless attired in a formal dress uniform.

Immediately after the marriage ceremony is officiated, the saber team positions itself in formation just outside the doorway, with typically six or eight saber bearers taking part.

On the command, the saber team raises their sabers into a high arch, with tips nearly touching and the blades facing up and away from the bride and groom. As the newly married couple exits the building, the senior usher announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present to you (Rank) and Mr/s. (insert name)" This is modified when both parties are in the military.

The newlyweds proceed into the arch, and as the couple passes through, the last two saber bearers usually lower the sabers in front of the couple, detaining them momentarily. Before releasing the couple, the saber bearer to the couple's left gives the bride a gentle swat on her backside with his saber, announcing "Welcome to the (insert branch) Ma'am!" If the bride is in the military, this step is omitted. In some ceremonies, every pair of saber bearers may lower their sabers, stopping the couple from proceeding each time. One of the pair may say something along the lines of, "Kiss required to pass," and the bearers will not raise their sabers until the bride and groom share a kiss. After the couple leaves the arch, the saber team recovers on command and dissolves formation.

Only the bride and groom pass under the arch. It is also traditional at the wedding reception for the wedding cake to be cut with a saber or sword.

This La Jolla wedding video has us crying happy tears!

From drone footage of the La Jolla coastline to charming details, and perfectly timed editing with all the right moments, this La Jolla wedding highlight video definitely has as crying happy tears (and wishing we had crashed this one)!! Well done Stockham Media!!

The couple shares their story: "We met at Joey’s house, the surf house in North PB, at the very end of college. We both went to UCSD, though he did a 5th year. We had hung out another time or 2, but always with a large group of people. Then a year later we ran into each other at Outside Lands in San Francisco. We hung out a lot that day, and I was the one that asked him for his number. He was the first one to wish me happy birthday at midnight that night (besides my sister and friend I was with).  Joey then had an “extra ticket” to a show in San Diego a couple weeks later, and I happened to be down there that same weekend. So our first “date” was the Handsome Furs at the Casbah. Then he had another ticket to another show, and by the third, he finally kissed me, and we’ve been together ever since, even when I moved to Hawaii for almost a year right as we started dating."

Kelly and Joseph were married at the Martin Johnson House in La Jolla, where the two attended college together.

Laguna Beach Wedding Brings Two Cultures and One Family Together on Wedding Crush Wednesday

With Korean elements to honor the Groom's family this wedding celebrates love and unity and a perfect beach wedding day at the incredible oceanfront Seven4one in Laguna Beach!

We asked Soompi for the scoop on Korean wedding traditions:  After the wedding is a short Korean ceremony called pyebaek, which is for family members only. The bride and groom will wear special wedding hanbok and will bow to their parents who are seated behind a low table stocked with traditional and symbolic wedding foods such as chestnuts, jujubes, and dried persimmons. The parents will bless the newlywed couple, and there will be an entertaining round of “catch the jujubes and chestnuts” to predict how many daughters and sons the couple will have! The mother of the bride will typically wear a pink or purple hanbok, and the mother of the groom will wear a blue hanbok. The rest of the female relatives may or may not wear hanbok, according to preference.
