Plan an Amazing Bachelorette Party for your Bride and Friends without Breaking the Bank

Bachelorette parties are a right of passage for you and your girls and it seems they're evolving all the time. Bridal parties can be found flying all over the world [Paris anyone?], celebrating in amazing hotels [what stays in Vegas...], heading down to Baja, or tucking into a quaint mountain cabin to play games and stay up all night chatting and just keeping it mellow, or, er....having a pillow fight. San Diego has probably the most options and directions to go since we are so close to it all! There are actually ways to have an amazing party without going crazy in the process. Plus, your bachelorette party should also be meaningful. Getting the bride out and little wild is fun, [spare her any social media posts of having too much fun please!] but letting her know how much you care about her and are happy she found the right person to marry is what it’s really all about.

Here we bring you just a few ideas and tips for you to plan the ideal Bachelorette Party.

Check in with the bride! First you should talk to the bride and find out what kind of party she wants. If she wants to go out of town, that’s great. But also find out what people can afford. Some might be more interested in the time spent together than spending a bucket full of dough [especially after wedding gifts, bridesmaids dresses and hotel rooms] so be sensitive to all!

Consider going to a city that’s nearby, but still away from home. You might be able to find a place that has group wine tours or a regional casino like Viejas resort & Casino. Or head out to Palm Springs for a fabulous girls getaway that's just a few hours east! The Ace Hotel is a charming way to dive right into the PS spirit! Or how about Mammoth Mountain Inn for a winter wonderland getaway? Or the famous Rosarito Beach Hotel or Las Rocas Resort & Spa in Baja Mexico? A quick drive to Temecula gets you to the gorgeous South Coast Winery Resort & Spa or just go as far as San Marcos and live a lakeside dream Bachelorette weekend at Lake House Resort! Perhaps a rented cabin up at Big Bear would be a great place to hang out and a chance for the bridal party to get to know each other, while paying tribute to the bride-to-be. Go camping or “glamping,” take a cooking class, go skydiving, go to a dive bar and sing karaoke, visit museums, take a craft beer tour, visit a distillery or go to a spa (ask about a group rate on spa services!). You can even do volunteer work or Arts and Crafts at Charity Wings.

When planning, remember to be diplomatic: Ask the bride first what she wants to do, and then ask the other attendees for ideas to add.

Remind the other party-goers not to post on social media until you get back, or you can create a private Facebook group to post photos for only those you trust. You don’t want strangers to know your house is unattended.

What’s most important:

Take some time to shower the bride with love, too. Play games, create a scrapbook for her, do crafts together, talk about how each of you met her and why you are still close friends. Brides planning a wedding are usually stressed to their limit, so take some time to allow her to relax and have fun. Maybe give each other pedicures, or have a home spa night.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, delegate. Centralize the planning, but ask other friends or bridesmaids to help out. Have one person research venues, another decide on games, another get a cake and champers, and so on. You don’t have to do it all yourself. Doing all the work yourself almost guarantees you won’t have fun and maybe even end up feeling resentful.

The most important part of any bachelorette party is the memories you make. The bride will remember this party as the most important time of her life with her best friends. She’ll love you for it.

Oh and please if you want to have a pillow fight Bachelorette Party like this adorable one shot by Chris Wojdak Photography.... you should do that part at home!:)

Upbeat San Diego wedding shines in Multi Colorful Spanish Village

Jasmine & Daniel's compatibility was undeniable from the beginning. They met online and after their first date they both told their best friends that they'd found 'the one'! The colorful nature of San Diego's Spanish Village at Balboa Park complimented this wedding couple and their guests so well. Their bright personalities shined through and since the Groom is a brew master at a local San Diego brewery everyone enjoyed the 'pour it yourself' beer taps and a wine station. Daniel's best friend Ben became ordained and performed the ceremony and his personal experiences with the couple made this bright and happy day of love all the more special.

6 really special wedding moments captured on camera prepare you for the feels!

Weddings are all about emotions: sharing them, feeling them and celebrating them. Here are 6 amazing emotional wedding moments capturing people as they celebrate love and all the feels! Grab a hankie!

#1 The Vow Feels.
This beautiful Bride became overwhelmed with emotions after her Groom said his vows to her. We love this very sweet moment of him kissing her on the shoulder since he couldn't quite yet give her a first kiss yet!

#2 The Maid of Honor Feels.
That sweet moment during the Maid of Honor's speech where she can't catch her breath from crying as she shares her joy and happiness for her best friend. Cue the Bride wiping away the tears and hold her hand through the rest of the speech.

#3 The Groom First Look Feels.
This love-filled Groom was speechless and broke down during the very first glimpse of his lovely Bride.

#4 The Wedding Surprise Feels.
During their New Years Eve Rancho Santa Fe wedding, it was so cold outside that their wedding cake froze! When the Brides went to cut into it their knife handle broke off and their reactions were priceless!

#5 The Wedding Guest Feels
Your friends and family are feeling the love too! A very sweet and loving moment captured of married guests at a wedding. Proof that guests are just as in love as the Bride and Groom!

#6 The Joyful Family Feels.
This Mother of the Groom had a great time listening to the wedding party roast the Bride & Groom during their entrances. After all that emotion you really need a good laugh to celebrate such an amazing life event.

And speaking of the feels....a great big thank you to wedding photographer extraordinaire Paul Douda Photography for capturing all this love and emotion and sharing it with us!

The exciting and thoughtful designs of designer Gemy Maalouf

Are you looking for something genuinely unique for your big walk down the aisle? Well look no further than the exciting design from brilliant Lebanese designer, Gemy Maalof.

image.jpg

Gemy Maalouf was born and raised in Lebanon, where she grew up surrounded by the colorful materials at her father’s fabric factory. Little did she know at such a young age that she was about to embark on a life-long journey into the world of fashion, despite her parents’ wish that she study law. Further motivating her choice of career was her captivation with the designer gowns she saw on models gracing catwalks and on celebrities walking the red carpet during her adolescence. As a result, she decided that she would bring a novel approach to the industry by making haute couture more accessible to women.

Building on her desire to create simple yet intricate formal wear for sexy, modern, young and active woman with attitude, Gemy quickly developed an exceptional eye for fashion. Cultivating her innate artistic talent, she first began designing gowns for friends and neighbors at just 17 years old and gradually increased her acumen for design, working in small workshops to bring her beautiful creations to life.

image.jpg

By 1996, Gemy was ready to open her first atelier in Beirut, making her dream of becoming a globally recognized designer a reality. From the onset of her career, she stayed true to her initial vision and launched her first line of clothing under her name, embodying all the high-end qualities and luxury of the haute couture. The release of the collection met with much acclaim and only four years after starting her label, she reached the fashion world’s center stage when she became one of the first Lebanese designers to show at the Salon du “Prêt a Porter” in Paris.

image.jpg

Not one to remain satisfied with the status quo, Gemy soon sought other avenues through which she could expand her innovative designs and took an ambitious step by bringing her unique flair to the fashion-conscious bride in 2004 with the GEMY MAALOUF Bridal line. In 2006, she once again embraced progress and change with her GEMY “Le Prêt” line, which provides a complete range of formal attire, from tops and skirts to short dresses. Finally in 2007, feeling the increasing demand for her designs from a niche of clientele with lower budgets, Gemy launched her 2nd line Beside Couture by GEMY providing the style at more affordable prices.

A pillow fight Bachelorette Party wins the award for cutest idea ever!

Did we say 'Pillow Fight Bachelorette Party'?! Yup we sure did! When Twinkle (yes, that is the bride's real name, she is amazing, and could this get any cuter?) contacted local wedding photographer, artist and expert fun-capturer Chris Wojdak Photography about shooting her Bachelorette party, Chris had to pinch herself to make sure the email was legit. A pillow fight?

Chris's reply? "YES. Yes please. Sign me up!" Twinkle and her friends rented a super cute vacation home here in San Diego, and brought the perfect mix of beauty and fun to their pillow fight photo session. Not only is this an adorable and original idea but what a memorable (and photo worthy) way to commemorate such a fun occasion! Thank you Chris!
