Best Man Tricks: Helping the Future Groom Propose!

Best men wear many hats, they are the groom’s best buddy, sidekick, stylist and personal assistant. As the best man your duties don’t just start and end on the wedding day. The groom might request you to run small errands like picking the best groomsmen gift or he could ask you for help with the most crucial event prior to the wedding: the proposal. Here are some great tips from Groovy Groomsmen Gifts

The groom put you above everyone else in the wolf pack. You have been given the rare honor of being his right hand man so be prepared to deliver. Here’s how you can help your friend propose to his beloved:

Give the Groom a good pep talk

The future of the groom’s love life hinges on the outcome of the proposal so expect him to feel very nervous. He will need all the help and support he can get. Your encouragement doesn’t have to be grand and complicated, though. A good pep talk before the proposal can go a long way in making the groom feel more confident. Remind him of all the great moments he had with his future bride and how this is the best thing that is about to happen to him. Better yet, bring the whole gang together for drinks the night before the proposal so all of you can put your friend at ease.

Help him find the perfect ring

No proposal is complete without a ring for the groom to give to his fiance. If the groom isn’t a regular wearer or shopper of jewelry then he will probably need your help in looking for the perfect engagement band. With the day of the proposal drawing close, your friend probably has a lot of things in his mind and will need someone to help him find a ring that fits best. First learn how to determine ring size and then ask the groom other details such as his budget and what features he would like the ring to have.

Help organize the get-together

Offer to help the groom arrange the get-together so he can focus on the most important part of the event: professing his love to his fiancé. The venue of the proposal is essential because it will set the mood of the occasion. Make a list of the various places that are especially meaningful to the couple such as where they had their first date or their favorite restaurant. Once you have picked the venue, coordinate with the staff on how you can make the place more romantic. Some restaurants are often very accommodating to special requests like this and may offer special services like setting up a candlelit dinner for the couple or even have musicians play a romantic song.

Document the proposal

Your best bud is about to make one of the most meaningful decisions in his life so this is definitely something worth immortalizing. Offer to document the proposal so the couple can look back to their special day. Assuming the proposal is a surprise, you should be very subtle so use smaller gadgets like a camera phone that will let you easily take pictures of the occasion.  On the other hand, you can also pull out all the stops and use a camera drone to create an unforgettable video documentation of the proposal. Go the extra mile and add dramatic music and some heartfelt messages from friends to the video.

Upbeat San Diego wedding shines in Multi Colorful Spanish Village

Jasmine & Daniel's compatibility was undeniable from the beginning. They met online and after their first date they both told their best friends that they'd found 'the one'! The colorful nature of San Diego's Spanish Village at Balboa Park complimented this wedding couple and their guests so well. Their bright personalities shined through and since the Groom is a brew master at a local San Diego brewery everyone enjoyed the 'pour it yourself' beer taps and a wine station. Daniel's best friend Ben became ordained and performed the ceremony and his personal experiences with the couple made this bright and happy day of love all the more special.

Something Blue: a beautiful Cinderella wedding styled shoot in one of our favorite wedding hues

When wedding photographer J. Michelle Photography sent us this beautiful and romantic blue toned styled wedding shoot (featuring real life couple Bri and Kevin) we could see that they understand that every girl dreams of being a princess on their magical day. J. Michelle and the team at Fairy Godmother (a wedding planning and event company) wanted to bring the essence of that universal dream to life. Pulling inspiration from the beloved story of 'Cinderella', they mixed regal elements with humble trinkets in many shades of blue [Cinderella's signature color don't you know!] to create a realistic fairytale styled shoot. Well all we can say is "Bippity Bobbity Boo we love this shoot in blue!" Nice job of making magic!

Gentle vintage style and a lot of love warm this charming Inn at Rancho Santa Fe wedding

Antique doors, vintage rentals, beautiful florals and Jack Daniels Groom's cake ..Kelsey and Robert's charming outdoor wedding at The Inn At Rancho Santa Fe was a lovely (and fun!) celebration of style, love and family and friends.

This thoughtful Bride considered every aspect of the day to make their guests comfortable and entertained throughout their celebration; as guests arrived they found lemonade, bottled water and parasols waiting for them. The ceremony site was beautifully decorated with vintage rentals (oh that gorgeous double door!), cascading floral arrangements, and a metal arch with a chandelier. At cocktail hour, vintage seating areas were scattered on the lawn for guests to mingle and enjoy. Handmade bar signs listed the signature cocktails, bride’s and groom’s favorites.

An open air photo booth next to cocktails was a real favorite with guests. Photos hung on a vintage velvet backdrop made the perfect photo gallery. Their seated reception featured specialty lace overlays, adorable table numbers and menu cards, and personalized macaron favors and instead of escort cards, Kelsey and Robert rented an antique door to display the seating chart. Cake and dessert tables (one for Kelsey and one for Robert with a bottle of Jack Daniels as the groom’s cake- you gotta love a Jack Daniels Groom's cake!) was a real crowd favorite! At the end of the day the guests went home with a lovely lavender sachet and wonderful memories of a night filled with fun, laughter, dancing and of course, love.

Love is timeless... and so is this hot style of jewelry by becomb

When you’re dedicated to what you love, time becomes irrelevant...introducing becomb.

Founder and Designer Levi Maestro says "Growing up, the only “jewelry" I ever felt comfortable wearing was a watch. It was the one item that I put on to feel dressed up as opposed to utilizing it for function because I always got impatient with how long it took me to register what the actual time was. When it occurred to me one day to create my own version of a watch, I knew I would prefer the piece aesthetically if it had no parts or markings. I took into consideration how much money our world spends on jewelry that for the majority has no significant meaning. I combined my love for minimalism with my love for symbolism and the Infinity Piece was created to serve as a reminder that when you’re dedicated to what you love, time becomes irrelevant."

don't worry ladies becomb has you covered too!

We love it and think this hot style of 'not a watch' jewelry will soon be the talk of the town!

Lavender Blue dilly dilly, a charming outdoor wedding at Quail Haven Farm in Bonsall

An olde English song from the late 17th century goes:

"Lavender's blue, dilly, dilly, lavender's green, When I am king, dilly, dilly, You shall be queen. Who told you so, dilly, dilly, who told you so? 'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly, that told me so."

With satchels of Lavender lending a delicate element to the day, The Battaglia's wedding unfolded on a warm October day, with moody skies and turned into a love-filled celebration of lavender and gold worthy of a modern day king and queen. Lovingly photographed by Great Woodland Photography you can see the whole wedding here...
