Megan and Chaska have always known they would be together. Their love story began several years ago while still in high school. Chaska was the star football player and she was the adorable cheerleader. High school sweethearts, these two were married in the Spring on a beautiful day full of joy, love, and just plain good ol' fun. Set on the beautiful Heart S Ranch in Cottonwood, Ca., with the sun shining, and a light breeze, Megan, and Chaska entered into their bond in front of their closest friends and family. Having just graduated from the Citadel right before their wedding day, Chaska will be reporting to active military service very soon. Their new adventure is just beginning!
Like many couples these days, Shakira & Nevada met in the digital wonderland. According to Shakira, she fell in love with Nevada at first click! She was absolutely smitten over his responses to all the match questions, his writing style and the fact that they had similar interests. After 5 years of courtship, on their way back from a mini vacation in Palm Springs, they made a pit stop in Julian where Nevada proposed in the crisp mountain air.
When Shakira & Nevada described how they envisioned their wedding, they described it as laid back, sweet and romantic. They held their wedding in Nevada’s sister’s backyard in an intimate and beautiful ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family. Shakira was given away by her father and her brother, Luis and Nevada’s brother officiated their ceremony. Shakira’s sister-in-law, Veronica, with Gilded Roses Weddings & Events orchestrated every detail perfectly proving that even small weddings can be stunning and elegant

We promised you another amazing Lunar New Year Wedding Styled Shoot this time by the creative team at Formosa Events and here it is! This bold pink delight of wedding style with traditional lion dancers, asian themed wedding cake, breathtaking styling and fashion is just the thing to ring in a very Happy Year of the Dog!!
Gung Hay Fat Choy!
SDW - As a wedding planner, you participate in style shoots on various themes. So why one about the Lunar New Year?
Wendy - Chinese New Year is always celebrated with friends and family at home, and eating together is always part of the 15 day celebrations. Although food is a very important element at these get-togethers, often times the visual and aesthetic experience for our guests may be overlooked. For this very reason, our team wanted to showcase two very distinct looks that anyone can do at home. These decorative ideas are really simple to execute, but they really do enhance the dining table tremendously.
What was designed can be featured at various other events such as a wedding, birthday party, anniversary dinner, and more. It isn't necessarily just for Lunar New Year dinners. This is what makes our table designs fabulous - they are transferrable for other occasions.
SDW - What was the inspiration for this style shoot?
Wendy - Thinking about all those Lunar New Year family dinners over the years, personally, I was ultimately inspired by two specific things. First, Pantone's colour of year for 2017; greenery. This was the reason green was selected in the colour palette. Secondly, the question was - would it be possible to have a Chinese inspired shoot without featuring traditional red? I believe our team was successful in demonstrating a modern interpretation of Asian decor and styling when you look at the video and pictures.
The other design feature that our team encapsulated was the Yin and Yang concept. One table featured a bold approach with the use of Bonsai trees. It translated into a more sophisticated masculine feel. The second table donated a more feminine touch with an abundance of flowers in shades of soft pinks and purples.
SDW - What is the one key piece of advice that you can offer to couples looking to design their own event?
Wendy - My continuous inspiration is derived from my clients' cultural backgrounds, their individual tastes and impeccable styles. Hence the company name "Asian Fusion Weddings". However, there are also clients that want a very visually detailed rich celebration where the cultural aspects are not the main focus. Hence "Formosa Events". 'Formosus' in Latin means beautifully formed. Therefore, when couples consult with this company, they desire more visual eye candy at their events.
In either case, it brings me great joy to be able to infuse their wishes into one creatively detailed and cohesive design; whether it be a gathering at home, an intimate affair and/or an extravagant wedding. The key for designing any celebrations is to maintain the colour scheme, use a variety of textures and remember what the purpose of the event is all about.
SDW - Thank you very much for sharing your team's editorial shoot with us.
Wendy - Thank you for sharing our images and video. Gung Hay Fat Choy! I wish everyone a healthy, wealthy and prosperous new year.

If you love love love flowers and pink then Annette Gomez, Florist, Artist, Wedding Magician is your gal! Annette says "I thought I had worked with the 'pink bride' until I met Olivia. She is all things pink, and more. Flowers are her everything (if you don't count her husband, her writing and her dogs, those are way up there too!) Lucky for us, she agreed to tell her story about her lusciously pink wedding, so without further adieu meet our pinkest bride yet, Olivia.
Says Bride Olivia, "If you’re reading this that means one of two things are true. You are in once-in-a-lifetime kind of love and have the true privilege of planning your wedding, or you are just a total, fully committed lover of all things floral. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. I’m a flower obsessed newlywed who frankly still hasn’t and hopes to never come down from the cloud nine feeling that comes from living out your fairy tale dream day – during which you partied with your favorite people, had a show stopper bouquet that weighed more than toddler, were surrounding by candles, twinkling lights and flowers galore, ate churros and married the love of your life...
Fairy tale. I know. A little clichéd of a term when it comes to weddings or events in general and yet here I am, one hundred and thirty-one days into marriage and still failing to find a better word for June 17th, 2017. I can come up with a lot of words to describe it – warm, gorgeous, glowing, blissful, jaw-dropping, butterfly-giving, soul warming, bursting with happiness – but really, fairy tale seems to sum all that up in a neat, perfectly pink package. Speaking of pink. I should address this now. I fiercely love pink. Not just pink. All pink. Every single shade of pink – from the hottest of hot to the creamiest of blushes and everything in between. I’ve loved pink long before it was cool to love pink – wait, it’s cool to like pink, right? For me, pink is happiness. It’s warm, it’s bright, it’s cool, it’s loud, it’s the happiest color, and it’s so utterly pink. So it came as no surprise to anyone when we sat down to plan our wedding that the first two words out of my mouth were pink, and flowers. Cake probably, realistically, wasn’t too far behind because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love cake? Cake aside, I’ve been dreaming of my wedding flowers since I was a little girl. No, you read that right. I said flowers. I wasn’t the type of little girl who finds herself filling journal pages with sketches of her dream dress or losing herself in visions of intricate, Princess Kate type veils. I didn’t spend my pre-engagement days lusting over a bride’s wedding band or perfect wedding hairstyle. I noticed the flowers, the arches, the bouquets, the floral crowns, the stems, the blooms. My caffeine fueled Pinterest boards will attest to this – every vision I had for my wedding began and ended with the flower arrangements.
Because the only thing that comes close to my love of pink is my ridiculous over the top love of flowers. I love flowers so much I found a wedding dress that had hand-made petals all over the skirt. No, seriously. To me, flowers are the ultimate embodiment of everything beautiful in our world. They’re magic. They sprout from the ground and bloom into bunches of color and grace that can encapsulate every human emotion. You’re sad? I’m sending you flowers. You’re over-the-moon happy? You’re getting flowers, girl. You’re new to the area, you’re mourning a loss, you’re madly in love, you’re celebrating, you’re brightening up a room – you’re getting flowers. Clearly, my wedding flowers had to bring it. I mean, really bring it. And oh boy, did they ever. In comes Annette Gomez. Flower Queen extraordinaire, master of the magical blooms, tamer of all that grows wild and unruly. Or, you can call her what I now affectionately call her – my flower fairy god mother. Annette was able to hear my obsession with big, bold, wildly fun flowers and my passion for pink to create the most jaw-dropping, heart-bursting, fairy tale worthy flowers for the day we said ‘I Do’. So much so that I burst into tears the moment I saw my bouquet, then again when I started that blissful walk down the aisle to see the most spectacular floral arrangements and arch. Oh yeah, and my future husband! He was there too, woohoo! But those flowers. Those flowers. Everywhere I looked was a burst of blooms – peonies and ivy, mint and roses, big, over the top, swoon-worthy flowers nestled amongst delicate petals...to say that it was breathtaking would be a true understatement. Our sweet Labrador even had the most gorgeous wreath of peonies around his neck. Every single detail was exquisite and more than I could have possibly known to hope for. Annette has a true gift and her ability to share that with us forever made our wedding the most stunning day.
I’ve been a wife to the love of my life for one hundred and thirty-one beautiful days now, and one hundred and thirty-one days later friends and family are still gushing over our big day. It was absolutely everything I could have ever dreamed it could be, and then some. I’m ninety percent sure that day made my heart the happiest it has ever been. One hundred and thirty-one days later, and I am still totally head-over-heels into my husband too, which is a good sign. Oh! And guess what? He’s still bringing me flowers. Pink ones." Thanks Olivia and congratulations!

A Del Mar wedding always delivers beauty, charm and style! With sweeping views of the ocean from the picturesque ceremony at L'Auberge Del Mar, to the bride's dramatically long train, this couple's special day was romantic with a touch of flair. Every little detail was elegant and intimate, with hand sewn handkerchiefs for "happy tears" at the ceremony, personalized robes for the bridal party [trending this year!], and a beautifully embroidered artwork of the couple kissing in front of the Eiffel tower as a centerpiece to the decor. The color palette was sophisticated with shades of navy blue in various textures, blush pink, and a splash of gold. The reception continued on the ocean view rooftop, as the sunset on the ocean, the string of lights hanging above the tables creating a cozy and romantic vibe and then led to world famous VG donuts! Congratulations to the happy couple!
Kirstin and Colin Hodges just had the wedding of Kirstin's dreams. We are sort of making a funny joke, but as Kirstin said, "to sum it up it was a little bit of country, a little bit of country club, but with a whole lot of a princess’ dream." And that's exactly what she wanted. Ever since she was a little girl, Kirstin says that she has always dreamed of a princess-style wedding with some "country girl flair." From pink, sparkly wedding pumps to cowgirl boots for the reception, it sounds like Kirstin got everything she's been dreaming about.

All Melissa and Adam wanted for their wedding day was a relaxed, fun, and carefree time. Judging by their photos below, we think they had just that! This couple's carefree attitudes definitely carried over into their Hawaiian themed wedding. Their magical day took place at The Dana on Mission Bay underneath the palm trees which was the perfect setting for their tropical soiree. From the bubbles to the games to the exciting entrance as a married couple, these two sure know how to throw an exciting party!

We've got some San Diego favorites on the blog today! Check out today's styled shoot feature for some great local vendors. Emily and Ryan at Emry Photography captured some hot pink and some cool Vintana Escondido views in their "Spring Love" shoot absolutely beautifully! With the coolest drink of the season [the Moscow Mule], gorgeous cocktails [did you know Vintana has an amazing specialty Vodka Bar?], fabulous staging and decor and shades of pink that range from flourescent hot pink, to candy pink [literally] and subtle baby doll to mauve, we think you'll love this styled shoot collaboration!
We are crushing hard on this Kentucky wedding for Wedding Crush Wednesday! This featured wedding showcases Nathan and Chelsea Burton who won our hearts instantly after viewing some of their wedding photos - we love book and libraries too! Chelsea's love for shades of purples and pinks made a debut throughout her bridesmaids' dresses and florals. The couple wanted to make sure they included not just colors, but all of the things that they love. Apparently, so did Mother Nature. These two love rainy days, and sure enough, a rainy day is what they got. Along with their love for cuddling up during these storms, Nathan and Chelsea share a love for books, so much so that the two had their first kiss surrounded by them, they even returned to that same library to do their first look. That is certainly one for the books!

April is in full swing and so are those showers [well what passes for showers in San Diego!]. What May flowers are we excited to see this season, you ask? We cannot wait to see peonies galore! The peony is such a perfect option for a multitude of reasons. For one, it's so easy to work them into your budget. Whether you have a large budget to have strictly peony arrangements at every table or you have a smaller budget and just want to add accent peonies throughout your bouquets, this flower is a solid choice. Another reason to love the peony is they look great with anything you put them with. A bouquet of similarly colored roses, hydrangeas, etc is a romantic and elegant option. However, more and more couples are using greenery in their decor, and peonies are a great complement to give your wedding that modern and rustic feel. You'll see what we mean in this Southern styled wedding.
Wedding decor and florals are available in a veritable rainbow of exciting color options and if you want to celebrate your wedding with bold decor you can't go wrong with bright oranges complemented with pinks and greens. We love this floral piece captured by Tim Otto Photography, wedding memories expert.
When Super Photographer Tim Otto shows up to capture your wedding you know you're going to get great photos and have fun too! Check out this bright and beautiful splash of colors captured by this month's Featured Color Palette Board Photographer Tim Otto! And what could be better for Valentine's Day than all this pink! (scroll down and see our fave photo of the Groomsmen as they later revealed their true identities!)
Mixing colors is an artform and this mix of colors that reminds of of melons: cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, hits just the right sweet spot of subtle complexity and style as captured by this month's Color Palette Board featured wedding photographer SheWanders Photography.
Okay let's face it we are so spoiled in San Diego! It's only January and we are already wondering how much longer we must wait before it's beach weather and the sun sets at 9! So here's a beautiful ray of floral sunshine in whites and pinks to remind you that before you know it the sun will be shining and the days will be long! Photographed by uber wedding photographers and masters of sunny days [and this month's color palette board artist] SheWanders Photography.
"Let them eat cake" she said and this time we agree! We love this pastel colored "Marie Antoinette" wedding styled shoot that showcases some queenly style and delicious and dreamy Michelle Hebert Bridal Gowns! This over the top styled shoot is just the right sweet spot with fun mode styling with pinks and blues and roses and crystals and macarons and beautiful decor that we're sure extravagant Marie would've adored!

This wedding invitation photo captured by local wedding artist SheWanders Photography [and this month's Color Palette Board Featured Artist] with it's classical floral design makes us wish we were strolling through an art museum getting inspired by all the masters.
San Diego is a wedding nirvana unto itself. As the largest wedding region/city in the USA [we enjoy and host more weddings than any other city or region in the country!] and the 10th most popular wedding destination in the world [tallied by reuters.com] we set trends and know what brides and grooms really love! We still love the floral crown here, we love it for its roots in the So Cal hippie culture, for its natural beauty and its 'I love the flower girl' attitude. Long live the flower crown [sorry Vogue weddings]! Today's Color Palette Board is a stunning orange and pink floral crown photographed by SheWanders Photography wedding photographers extraordinaire.
Classic still life floral centerpieces reminiscent of paintings by the Masters are all the rage on weddings and we love this bold and bright study in pinks captured by SheWanders Photography for today's wedding color pallate board..."Bold Pink Still Life".
