Pantone's Color of the Year for 2018: Ultra Violet Coming Soon to Trending Wedding Styled Shoots!

Pantone has announced the Color of the Year for 2018 and it's out of this world! Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple, evokes royalty, the cosmos and magic!

Says Pantone, "Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.

Enigmatic purples have also long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.

Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. The use of purple-toned lighting in meditation spaces and other gathering places energizes the communities that gather there and inspire connection."

Downtown Gallery Styled Wedding Shoot Brings Industrial Texture and Rich Watercolor Pastels Together

Downtown Gallery Styled Wedding Shoot Brings the trend of gorgeous Brick Industrial Texture and Rich Watercolor Pastels Together

Industrial hard meets pretty is so hot right now in fashion and editorial! And at the exciting Sparks Gallery in Downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the rough brick and deep wood contrasting with the exciting and bright colors in the artwork make the perfect set up for the dynamism of Justice Photography. This shoot is the perfect blend of strong lines and textures and soft colors and styling. Bonus: it even has a gorgeous geode cake, floral decorated picture frames [love!] and crystal place settings in Pantone's Color of the Year for 2108 Ultra Violet! This super design team is so on trend for weddings and style and we think they've created the perfect blend of the masculine and the feminine with this dramatic and fresh wedding styled shoot! Enjoy!

Melissa Barrad, Owner of I DO Weddings and Events and Lead Stylist in the shoot says, "Once I visited the Sparks Gallery, I knew it was a special place. I loved the lighting, and of course, that they feature California artists. With that in mind, we pooled together California based vendors and San Diego natives, like myself, to create a unique romantic feel with a laid-back vibe. We wanted to work with colors that would enhance the art, not take away from it."

A Library Wedding First Look Photo Shoot is Literally One for the Books

We are crushing hard on this Kentucky wedding for Wedding Crush Wednesday! This featured wedding showcases Nathan and Chelsea Burton who won our hearts instantly after viewing some of their wedding photos - we love book and libraries too! Chelsea's love for shades of purples and pinks made a debut throughout her bridesmaids' dresses and florals. The couple wanted to make sure they included not just colors, but all of the things that they love. Apparently, so did Mother Nature. These two love rainy days, and sure enough, a rainy day is what they got. Along with their love for cuddling up during these storms, Nathan and Chelsea share a love for books, so much so that the two had their first kiss surrounded by them, they even returned to that same library to do their first look. That is certainly one for the books!

High School Sweethearts Celebrate Their Forever at a Coronado Wedding

Crystal and Mario are the quintessential high school sweethearts. They have been together for 15 years having both attended Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley, California where the pair fell in love and started the journey of a lifetime as mere teenagers. Until the day came when Mario realized that he couldn't spend another day not married to his best friend and decided to propose at sunset at one of their favorite beaches in San Diego, of course!

Their family and friends were ecstatic to celebrate their wedding day. Even their beloved dog, Scooter, was a groomsman (and you know how we feel about dogs!) Check out this lovely featured wedding with Crystal's chosen palette of plums, blues and lavender tones and a seriously adorable flower girl and ring bearer and yes.... they had us at 'dog groomsman'.

This wedding was nothing short of the extravagant celebration the patient duo deserved. Crystal and Mario rang in their new life together at the gorgeous Coronado Community Center and what a celebration it was!

Purple and blue make the perfect combo for a beautiful woodland castle wedding

"The perfect recipe for this incredible May wedding… "  says Officiant Jason Nathan about the wonderful couple of Rachel and Chad and the beautiful location of Mt. Woodson Castle,  read on....

"On this oh so special Saturday, Rachel and Chad’s love story, which began three years earlier with a “wink”, celebrated the coming together of their two hearts with a wedding ceremony that honored their incredible relationship and their strong relationship with their families. From the initial moments of their epic seven hour long first date to a radiant Rachel walking down the aisle with her father, I think everyone knew how perfect this couple is together. The ceremony was meaningful and personal with moments of their love story being shared and vows written and delivered by the couple that were so heartfelt and beautiful, the Grinch himself would have smiled and teared up. After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the beautiful mountain air as they had cocktails and dinner and then danced the magical night away." Thank you Jason we feel like we got to be there too!

Lavender Blue dilly dilly, a charming outdoor wedding at Quail Haven Farm in Bonsall

An olde English song from the late 17th century goes:

"Lavender's blue, dilly, dilly, lavender's green, When I am king, dilly, dilly, You shall be queen. Who told you so, dilly, dilly, who told you so? 'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly, that told me so."

With satchels of Lavender lending a delicate element to the day, The Battaglia's wedding unfolded on a warm October day, with moody skies and turned into a love-filled celebration of lavender and gold worthy of a modern day king and queen. Lovingly photographed by Great Woodland Photography you can see the whole wedding here...

Candlelight's glow and Autumn's richest colors make for one gorgeous styled shoot!

This beautiful styled shoot called "Fig & Fawn" was inspired by Autumn's deep, rich colors and the warmth and glow of candlelight. What could be more romantic?! We love the richness of deep plum, combined with the softness of rustic grey, contrasted with the metallic copper.

Bringing mixed metals and unique materials together created an amazing dimension of effects through pattern, color and texture. From the vintage furniture to the tablescapes, the couture wedding dress to the vibrant jewelry, nothing speaks more to rustic elegance than this eclectic mix. The tables were designed with vintage black china, gold silverware and handpicked goblets along with deep plum napkins and hand calligraphy wooden place cards. Adding incredible depth were the florals of amnesia and lavender roses, thistle, Queen Anne's lace, silver dollar eucalyptus and copper painted succulents draping down from above and across the table. The table was finished with gorgeous high-backed vintage chairs and the glow from numerous tiered brass candle sticks. Romantic and charming, we hope that this inspires all couples who are currently planning a vintage fall wedding! Please click any image to see the whole styled shoot feature...enjoy!
