Pantone's Color of the Year for 2018: Ultra Violet Coming Soon to Trending Wedding Styled Shoots!

Pantone has announced the Color of the Year for 2018 and it's out of this world! Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple, evokes royalty, the cosmos and magic!

Says Pantone, "Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.

Enigmatic purples have also long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.

Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. The use of purple-toned lighting in meditation spaces and other gathering places energizes the communities that gather there and inspire connection."

Exotic Moroccan Bohemian Wedding Styled Shoot from Australia Just Sends Us Into Heavenly Lavender Bliss

We love our So Cal style but always have one eye on the talented and creative artists and stylists around the globe- just take a gander at this gorgeous styled shoot by out pals 'down under' from Adorn Invites! We love how you inspired us with your Bohemian-Moroccan-lavender-bliss!!

Here's what this shoot's talented stylist had to say about her inspiration: “It’s amazing to witness how this theme and style organically developed into something so different from our early idea. I still can’t believe that our original palette involved oxblood and navy and our lavender Spring time setting was actually a brooding forest with an alternative-tatted up gypsy bride!

Scrolling through our digital mood board – you can clearly see how the progression evolved. Ominous fashion editorials developed into ethereal models and fairy like details, and vivid lilacs and shades of gold slowly made their way in. Despite the ever changing theme – at the core of our shoot, was the desire to craft something completely different and accessible to a number of brides......read more below...

"...Although our theme was heavily influenced by Bohemian and Moroccan styles, we didn’t want to limit the décor to only one look, which is why we included more romantic and elegant details. You’ll find this harmony throughout the whole editorial, for example our indoor dining table features an installation of wild flowers, lush unstructured greenery and an entire set of semi-precious stones and crystals. We balanced this organic look with more minimal pieces such as art deco inspired vases, elegant gold cutlery and whimsical satin ribbon.

The mascot/embodiment of the day was no doubt our stunning cow skull motif that was used as the key centerpiece in the outdoor shoot. This guy was clearly from our initial theme – embodying the darker style that we initially wanted, however we brought him into our lilac fairytale by DIY-ing him with more feminine details. We spray painted him white and gold and found pearls and diamantes from a costume jewelry store. We hoped that by transforming him into a less avant-garde detail, we could inspire other brides to include more eccentric elements into their own wedding. After all, it is only one day – brides don’t be afraid to embody your unique personality and style! Cow skulls and all.”
