When the Bride Loves Pink: You Get The Most Charming Pink Wedding You've Ever Seen

If you love love love flowers and pink then Annette Gomez, Florist, Artist, Wedding Magician is your gal! Annette says "I thought I had worked with the 'pink bride' until I met Olivia. She is all things pink, and more. Flowers are her everything (if you don't count her husband, her writing and her dogs, those are way up there too!) Lucky for us, she agreed to tell her story about her lusciously pink wedding, so without further adieu meet our pinkest bride yet, Olivia.

Says Bride Olivia, "If you’re reading this that means one of two things are true. You are in once-in-a-lifetime kind of love and have the true privilege of planning your wedding, or you are just a total, fully committed lover of all things floral. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. I’m a flower obsessed newlywed who frankly still hasn’t and hopes to never come down from the cloud nine feeling that comes from living out your fairy tale dream day – during which you partied with your favorite people, had a show stopper bouquet that weighed more than toddler, were surrounding by candles, twinkling lights and flowers galore, ate churros and married the love of your life...

Fairy tale. I know. A little clichéd of a term when it comes to weddings or events in general and yet here I am, one hundred and thirty-one days into marriage and still failing to find a better word for June 17th, 2017. I can come up with a lot of words to describe it – warm, gorgeous, glowing, blissful, jaw-dropping, butterfly-giving, soul warming, bursting with happiness – but really, fairy tale seems to sum all that up in a neat, perfectly pink package. Speaking of pink. I should address this now. I fiercely love pink. Not just pink. All pink. Every single shade of pink – from the hottest of hot to the creamiest of blushes and everything in between. I’ve loved pink long before it was cool to love pink – wait, it’s cool to like pink, right? For me, pink is happiness. It’s warm, it’s bright, it’s cool, it’s loud, it’s the happiest color, and it’s so utterly pink. So it came as no surprise to anyone when we sat down to plan our wedding that the first two words out of my mouth were pink, and flowers. Cake probably, realistically, wasn’t too far behind because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love cake? Cake aside, I’ve been dreaming of my wedding flowers since I was a little girl. No, you read that right. I said flowers. I wasn’t the type of little girl who finds herself filling journal pages with sketches of her dream dress or losing herself in visions of intricate, Princess Kate type veils. I didn’t spend my pre-engagement days lusting over a bride’s wedding band or perfect wedding hairstyle. I noticed the flowers, the arches, the bouquets, the floral crowns, the stems, the blooms. My caffeine fueled Pinterest boards will attest to this – every vision I had for my wedding began and ended with the flower arrangements.

Because the only thing that comes close to my love of pink is my ridiculous over the top love of flowers. I love flowers so much I found a wedding dress that had hand-made petals all over the skirt. No, seriously. To me, flowers are the ultimate embodiment of everything beautiful in our world. They’re magic. They sprout from the ground and bloom into bunches of color and grace that can encapsulate every human emotion. You’re sad? I’m sending you flowers. You’re over-the-moon happy? You’re getting flowers, girl. You’re new to the area, you’re mourning a loss, you’re madly in love, you’re celebrating, you’re brightening up a room – you’re getting flowers. Clearly, my wedding flowers had to bring it. I mean, really bring it. And oh boy, did they ever. In comes Annette Gomez. Flower Queen extraordinaire, master of the magical blooms, tamer of all that grows wild and unruly. Or, you can call her what I now affectionately call her – my flower fairy god mother. Annette was able to hear my obsession with big, bold, wildly fun flowers and my passion for pink to create the most jaw-dropping, heart-bursting, fairy tale worthy flowers for the day we said ‘I Do’. So much so that I burst into tears the moment I saw my bouquet, then again when I started that blissful walk down the aisle to see the most spectacular floral arrangements and arch. Oh yeah, and my future husband! He was there too, woohoo! But those flowers. Those flowers. Everywhere I looked was a burst of blooms – peonies and ivy, mint and roses, big, over the top, swoon-worthy flowers nestled amongst delicate petals...to say that it was breathtaking would be a true understatement. Our sweet Labrador even had the most gorgeous wreath of peonies around his neck. Every single detail was exquisite and more than I could have possibly known to hope for. Annette has a true gift and her ability to share that with us forever made our wedding the most stunning day.

I’ve been a wife to the love of my life for one hundred and thirty-one beautiful days now, and one hundred and thirty-one days later friends and family are still gushing over our big day. It was absolutely everything I could have ever dreamed it could be, and then some. I’m ninety percent sure that day made my heart the happiest it has ever been. One hundred and thirty-one days later, and I am still totally head-over-heels into my husband too, which is a good sign. Oh! And guess what? He’s still bringing me flowers. Pink ones." Thanks Olivia and congratulations!

Quiet yet powerful home wedding in Encinitas brings gorgeous So Cal style to a day that celebrates love and family

We are suckers for home weddings! And this quietly powerful home wedding in Encinitas brings gorgeous style to a day that celebrates love and family overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We hope you enjoy this bright, sunshine and love-celebration on a perfect Southern California day.  And remember one of the most important decisions you make with any wedding (but with a home wedding  in particular) is hiring a professional wedding and event planner like Julie from The Best Wedding for You who pulled this beauty together, allowing the couple and their families to truly enjoy their special day.

Says Danielle of SidebySide Cinema “Brittany and Dave chose Encinitas for their seaside elopement this past summer. They rented a beautiful house (and we learned that it was actually Shawn White's house that he was selling!) and spent a few days just relaxing with their little family. Dave got the boys and himself ready while Brittany finished her last touches of details. I loved all the dainty sparkly things and her "shoes" were adorable. The boys with their hats were to die for!

Their ceremony was on a landing on the cliff overlooking the ocean. It was the smallest ceremony we've ever filmed. Just the two of them and their two boys! They had amazing personal vows and I just loved that you could hear their kids in the background and they even had to hold the baby during the rings. It just was perfect because the kids were so much a part of the day and sometimes life is just messy and your kids need a snack during the ceremony!

After the ceremony, they had an awesome sunset for photo time. The baby was thrilled with the sand and their other son just wanted to play in the waves. They are such an adorable family. While they were taking photos, the chef was making their meal. They had an intimate dinner that looked absolutely delicious.

Because this was an elopement, there was only a ceremony, no reception events. But once the sun went down, we did some fun night shots with them with sparklers and lanterns. It was a beautiful night and a romantic event. We hope they had an amazing time here in California, congratulations you two!”

Jewel Toned Temecula Elopement Photo Shoot Brings Rich Colors to Life

Rich colors pop so beautifully in photography like this jewel toned elopement photo session in Temecula, California [a place both rich and beautiful in its own right!). We hope you enjoy this lovely shoot featuring real life couple Tiffany & Keith Jones (whose happy faces say it all!). We are crazy about the styling here especially the tablescapes with those rich florals, that outdoor fireplace mantle and those adorable individually styled little cakes!

Lorena of Rustic Vintage who generated the shoot says, "When I first started to plan the design for this styled shoot, I knew I needed to include one of my favorite colors,  Marsala.  This rich wine shade adds elegance to any surroundings and to rustic or vintage décor! To soften the color a bit, I incorporated blush pinks, ivory and pops of gold. This color combination is perfect for the brides wishing to have a fall or winter wedding! And for the furniture and prop selection I chose to bring in lots of wood textures mixed color fabrics and vintage décor."

5 Things You Should Never DIY at Your Wedding

It seems a lot of couples think they need to DIY [Do It Yourself] some parts of their wedding, but is this really such a good idea? Here we offer 5 things you should never DIY at your wedding!

Personalizing your wedding, and saving a buck are a great reason to tackle some DIY wedding tasks. But there are some areas that are always better left to the professionals, no matter how visionary or budget minded you are.

1. Wedding Flowers

Even if attempting the most simple wild-flowers filled mason jar design, creating floral décor is time consuming and time critical. Because blooms are perishable, the delivery and creation timeframe is important. The precious day/hours leading up to your ceremony can be better spent pampering with your bridesmaids and enjoying your family.

2. Bridal Hair

Regardless of the simplicity of the natural hair style you’re seeking, a professional can do your hair twice as well and twice as fast as you could – no matter how many trials you’ve ran. They will also know which products to use to ensure the look lasts you through your last dance.

3. Wedding Reception Food

Like flowers (above) food is equally perishable and requires a lot of prep work the hours leading up to the event. Professional caterers can better estimate the amount of food required for your event, can uniquely combine the favorite flavors you and your groom are after and can accommodate any dietary or allergy restrictions your guests have. And don't even get us started on attempting to create and deliver a tiered and decorated wedding cake!

4. Wedding Reception Music

Please just don’t DJ your own wedding. On behalf of the sanctity of your day, and your dear wedding guests, it is absolutely necessary to hire a professional to emcee your event, keep the event flowing, make announcements and decipher which song is best in that moment to keep the energy you are going for no matter how savvy you are with your I Tunes!

5. Wedding Event Clean Up

With the increased popularity of rustic barn weddings and exclusive venue rentals, comes the newer demand of cleanup requirements. The last thing you will want to do after joyfully celebrating the best day of your life is tidy up the after-math. Be sure to check your contract to verify the cleanup requirements.  If this is not included in the rental, be sure to source a professional cleaning company to do the job for you.  Worth every penny!

To Paris with Love: a beautiful San Diego wedding creates the romance of the City of Lights

As the famous 1930's Parisian songbird Edith Piaf sang "Hold me close and hold me fast, The magic spell you cast, This is la vie en rose, When you kiss me heaven sighs, And tho I close my eyes, I see la vie en rose." La Vie en Rose is the blissful, rosy way we view life in love and Stephanie and Matthew's beautiful Parisian themed wedding truly celebrated La Vie en Rose! The gorgeous pink roses, the pink champagne,  that beautiful cake and the bridesmaids dresses, the custom dance floor and of course, the Westgate Hotel's gorgeous interior brought together a rosy day of love and joy.  From the beginning when Matthew proposed to Stephanie at the top of Las Vegas' version of the Eiffel Tower to their selection of the gorgeous [and very French styled] Westgate Hotel they envisioned a very elegant, Parisian wedding reception theme that led right up to their honeymoon, which, Stephanie and Matthew will, you guessed it... spend in Paris, France!
