This San Diego City Skyline View Makes for a Perfect Waterfront Wedding Backdrop!

San Diego is home to some pretty amazing views but we think the waterfront city skyline view at Coasterra Restaurant and Wedding & Special Event Space takes the cake! Check out this super fun wedding at Coasterra!

Kelsey & Marlon’s relationship started as a beautiful friendship which quickly grew romantic after a few months. Both Kelsey & Marlon are very into sports and lead healthy and active life styles together and separately. One of their favorite games to play together is a basketball game called “Knock Out”, a game Kelsey & her father came up with and used to play throughout her life. He passed away in 2011 and this special activity lives on through Kelsey & Marlon. While in Las Vegas for a volleyball tournament, Marlon decided to bring Kelsey’s father’s basketballs for a destination game of knock out where he proposed in the middle of the court! Fast forward to their Summer wedding in San Diego…

Kelsey & Marlon live in Northern California but have many roots in San Diego so decided to plan their destination wedding on the harbor. The day started with an early morning wedding workout at their La Jolla AirBNB where they also had their first look! Their wedding was held at Coasterra overlooking the San Diego skyline (one of the best views of the city, in my opinion). It was important to celebrate their families so Kelsey & Marlon kept their wedding party very simple and had their mothers (and Marlon’s grandmother) walk them down the aisle and their sisters as bridesmaids. Not to mention their adorable nieces and nephews as the ring bearer and flower girls! A table was also set up for Kelsey’s deceased father to attend in spirit. Their wedding was full of lots of personal details and DIY projects, including the seating chart done by the bride, the cake was designed and made by the brides sister, Karen Stiles and their guest book was a Wilson basketball.

What a gorgeous couples and what a perfect San Diego wedding day. Congratulations to the Wilson’s!!

This La Jolla wedding video has us crying happy tears!

From drone footage of the La Jolla coastline to charming details, and perfectly timed editing with all the right moments, this La Jolla wedding highlight video definitely has as crying happy tears (and wishing we had crashed this one)!! Well done Stockham Media!!

The couple shares their story: "We met at Joey’s house, the surf house in North PB, at the very end of college. We both went to UCSD, though he did a 5th year. We had hung out another time or 2, but always with a large group of people. Then a year later we ran into each other at Outside Lands in San Francisco. We hung out a lot that day, and I was the one that asked him for his number. He was the first one to wish me happy birthday at midnight that night (besides my sister and friend I was with).  Joey then had an “extra ticket” to a show in San Diego a couple weeks later, and I happened to be down there that same weekend. So our first “date” was the Handsome Furs at the Casbah. Then he had another ticket to another show, and by the third, he finally kissed me, and we’ve been together ever since, even when I moved to Hawaii for almost a year right as we started dating."

Kelly and Joseph were married at the Martin Johnson House in La Jolla, where the two attended college together.

Horses, Trees and Verdant Views: The Ranch at Bandy Canyon is the Ultimate in Outdoor Wedding Venues

When a piece of land is cared for for over 140 years it develops a soul and a richness from its history and from all the love that has gone into it. The Ranch at Bandy Canyon has been loved since 1870 when it was first settled on 144 acres by a family creating a new life in the San Pasqual Valley [home to wineries, rolling hills and lovely views - note: part of the Ranch's original parcel of land is now The Wild Animal Safari Park!]. And unless you have been living under a rock for the last few years rustic outdoor, barn and farm weddings are the absolute biggest trend in weddings. Having recently undergone a multi million dollar remodel, The Ranch at Bandy Canyon is the perfect wedding venue setting to create a love filled, joyous celebration with trees, horses, gorgeous views, and generations of love in every stone.

Set deep in Bandy Canyon, this Southern California ranch is adorned with rustic cabins, a dramatic pool for lounging and entertaining and an authentic 1930’s adobe lodge with two kitchens, antique stoves, and multiple fireplaces. A charming terrace and wedding ceremony site are also available for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and special events. We just love the on site cottages too for an intimate getaway!
